This crazy character was said to have terrorized Victorian England, with his incredible bounce and devilish appearance. The first claimed sighting of spring-heeled Jack was in 1837, and further reports followed thick and fast. This grotesque face, clawed hands, black cloak, and ability to leap over walls mentioned in all the eyewitness accounts, striking fear in people hearts. Stories were published in the press, and parents warned their children of a visit from jumping Jack if they misbehaved. No one fitting his unique description was ever caught. Some people believe spring-heeled Jack was a paranormal phenomenon, but most dismiss him as fictional story that spread in to mass hysteria.
